
On 5th July, 2012, the NLV held a Preliminary Meeting to sum up the first 6 months of 2012, the Meeting partially summed up the emulation movement “Inheriting tradition, building modern libraries, heading towards the 95th Anniversary of the NLV”, analyzed, evaluated the achieved results, and pointed out the existing limitations, as well as determined directions, center tasks for the last 6 months of 2012 with the aim of further achievements to celebrate the 95 years of building and developing the NLV (29th Nov, 1917-29th Nov, 2012), fulfill and exceed overall targets, work plans with the highest efficiency; develop initiatives, improve professional activities, enhance readers service quality, expand international cooperation… especially successfully organize The 95th Anniversary of Establishment of the NLV, The Proposal to award Government Emulation Flag and First Class Independent Medal.

On June 27, 2012, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) has held a ceremony to receive books from the Embassy of the Republic of Chile. In this ceremony, the Ambassador of Chile Embassy has directly donated more than 40 books and CD-ROMs to the visually impaired people, under the themes of Chile history, culture, and people. This will be a precious resource for Vietnamese readers to get to know about Chile’s beautiful country and people and to be added in the Spanish resource of the NLV...

On the occasion of the 40th year of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Austria, on June 15th, 2012, National Library of Vietnam (NLV) has coordinated with the Embassy of Austria in Vietnam to hold an exhibition “Gustav Klimt – Forerunner of Modernism – 150th Anniversary” in Hanoi. Besides displaying the Painter Gustav Klimt’s unique artworks in 15 large size and high quality colored-posters, the exhibition also introduced about his road to the art, his representations, ideas, his art development and also the controversy about his art or private life.
On May 5th, 2012, Pakistan Ambassador in Vietnam, Mr. Shahid M.G. Kiani has directly awarded two titles “Pakistan Folk Stories” and “The tales of Pakistan Children” with 300 books for National Library of Vietnam (NLV) and other libraries in Vietnam.This is the second time that the Ambassador himself has given books to NLV and other libraries in Vietnam with the hope that these books will be brought to young readers in Vietnam, especially those who are in difficult areas.

On 11th May, 2012, “European Literature Days”, which has twice taken place, was raised at National Library of Vietnam with various exciting activities. This literature event was started with an Exhibition which presented more than 300 typical literature works of writers, poets and philosophers, … from United Kingdom, Poland, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, France, Spain. They are stored at National Library of Vietnam and translated into Vietnamese by Vietnamese and foreign translators.

Towards the 60th anniversary of the traditional day of book Publishing – Printing and Distributing Sector of Vietnam and the 95 years anniversary of the National Library of Vietnam (NLV), under the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam, NLV has jubilant organized the Reading Festival with the theme “Books-Knowledge: Origination of Success” on 21st April 2012. The Reading Festival included many diverse activities, be renewed for content quality and format to continue affirming the great value of reading, honoring authors, works, publishing profession, printing, distribution and library sector in Vietnam....

In the morning of 12 March, 2012, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) in cooperation with The Asia Foundation (U.S.A) launched the two-day training course on “Enhancement of reader service provision for Books for Asia recipient libraries in Vietnam” for over 76 librarians of recipient libraries in the North and North Central provinces of Vietnam under the Books for Asia program (BFA program) funded by The Asia Foundation (TAF). The training course takes place in two days (12-13 March 2012) in the framework of the BFA program for Vietnamese libraries in the period of 2009-2012.

28 February 2012, at the National Library of Vietnam, Mr. Jorge Rondon Uzcategui - Ambassador of the Republic of Venezuela in Vietnam made a solemn delivery of 200 copies of the book "Simon Bolivar- liberation of nations, homeland creator” libraries Vietnamese. The book "Simon Bolivar- liberation of nations, homeland creator” which was translated into Vietnamese and published in Vietnam tells the story of the life of the hero who liberated peoples, created several nations - Simon Bolivar. This book is divided into three parts: Simon - a young man; Simon - a man; Simon - the liberator, recounted the life, battles, ideas and views of the leader of a country.

In the morning of February 14, 2012, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Party held a meeting to review its activities in 2011 and launch tasks for 2012. At the meeting, Mr. Lê Anh Thơ presented a report to review the MoCST’s party activities in 2011, tasks and plans for 2012 which highlighted achievements in 2011 of the MoCST’s party such as effective implementation resolutions and instructions of the Central Party and its superior party committee: resolutions of the 11th Party Congress, instructions, resolutions and written guidances of the Party to build the united bloc for well performing all MoCST’s political tasks on culture, sports, tourism and family, election of the 13th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels term 2011 – 2016

On 9th February 2012, at Tuan Chau Island, Ha Long, Quang Ninh province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MoCST) organized Conference on deploying the working plan of culture, sports and tourism sector in 2012. The MoCST has implemented the central tasks, keen on improving national management’s effectiveness, following the realities, resolving the limitations, making movements on strategic objects of the cultural, sports and tourism sector, achieved encourage achievements on culture, high score sports, tourism, cinema, fine arts, photography and exhibition, state management on families etc. Especially, in 2011, Vietnam.
