Exhibition: Life and Works of the Austrian Artist Gustav Klimt

On the occasion of the 40th year of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Austria, on June 15th, 2012, National Library of Vietnam (NLV) has coordinated with the Embassy of Austria in Vietnam to hold an exhibition “Gustav Klimt – Forerunner of Modernism – 150th  Anniversary” in Hanoi.

Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862 – February 6, 1918) is a painter who followed the Austrian symbolic school. He is one of the most outstanding  members of the “New Art” movement – a movement of revolutionary in around 1900s in Europe . He is the author of many symbolic paintings which express the beauty, charming and daring of Vienne’s New Art and clearly depict it. The masterpiece “The Kiss” is one of his most successful work and is loved by the whole world.

Besides displaying the Painter Gustav Klimt’s unique artworks in 15 large size and high quality colored-posters, the exhibition also introduced about his road to the art, his representations, ideas, his art development and also the controversy about his art or private life.

The exhibition opens daily from 8:00 to 20:00 from June 15th, 2012 to June 24th, 2012, in the National Library of Vietnam.
