The writer, journalist Ho Quang Loi gives books to the Vietnamese libraries

In the afternoon of 24th January 2013, the journalist and writer Ho Quang Loi visited and donated 63 book copies entitled “Viet Nam on the wave of the times” to the National Library of Viet Nam and 63 provincial libraries of the Vietnamese library system. Especially, the author directly recorded words on books donated to each recipient library; this is really the sincere gesture of the author given to the libraries. With the trust and love to the library, the writer wishes “Viet Nam on the wave of the times” will be sent to the numerous readers of the country

 

National Library of Viet Nam organizes the Conference to review the works of 2012 and implement the direction, tasks in 2013

 On 23rd January 2013, the National Library of Vietnam held a conference to review the works of 2012 and implement the direction, tasks in 2013.  Accordingly, in 2012, the National Library of Viet Nam has successfully completed the services of political propaganda; organized successfully the 95th Anniversary and received the First Class Independence Order; promote collecting the additional publications through depository acquisition; improve the effectiveness of the professional works; continue to implementing the slogan “All for the readers” with specific and active solutions to introduce, advertise the image in order to attract social communities to extract information; expand international co-operation in the field of library oriented the MoCST..

 

 

Exhibition “Dien Bien Phu in the air victory through the materials at home and abroad”

In the morning of 26th December 2012, at the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), the exhibition “Dien Bien Phu in the air victory through the materials at home and abroad” has opened. Exhibition presents more than 600 documents including books, newspapers, press clippings, pictures which are variety in types and content of the 12 days and nights of the Hanoi People's Army against the bombing of the U.S Air Force bombardment. Exhibition “Dien Bien Phu in the air victory through materials at home and abroad” enables readers and public to have deeper and comprehensive understanding of the great victory of the Army and People in Hanoi in particular and the nation in general.

 

Delegation from the National Library of Viet Nam has attended the World Digital Library meeting at the Library of Congress, Washington D.C., USA

The Director of the National Library of Viet Nam has attended the Annual partner meeting of the World Digital Library at the Library of Congress, Washington D.C., USA on 5th December 2012 according to the invitation letter of the Director of the World Digital Library. There were about 60 leaders and representatives representing for over 30 libraries, archives agencies and museums etc. in 24 countries all over the world. During the time in Washington D.C., delegation from the National Library of Viet Nam have also attended the International Summit of the Book at the Library of Congress, had meeting with experts, partners, colleagues and visit the Library of Congress.

 

The National Library of Viet Nam celebrated the 95th Anniversary of Establishment (29/11/1917 – 29/11/2012) and received The First Class Independence Order

On 29th November 2012, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) solemnly celebrated the 95th Anniversary of Establishment and received the First Class Independence Order - the noble award granted to the NLV by the Vietnamese Communist Party and Government. Being a cultural institution with nearly a century of existence, the NLV is a pride not only to officials working in the library sector but also to readers throughout the country. During the last 95 years of operation, the NLV has successfully implemented the tasks of propagating, disseminating on large and deep scale knowledge to domestic and international library readers, serving the tasks of the nation’s political, culture, educational, socio-ecenomic development as well as the tasks of sciences research and social fields development, making gigantic contribution to the establishment and development of the Vietnamese library system, expanding library cooperation, calling donation of library-information resources from other nations of the world.

 

Wallonie- Bruxelles International Delegation continues donating books to the NLV in the year of 2012

In the morning of 24 Oct.2012, at the National Library of Vietnam (NLV), Mr. Christian Bourgoignie – Head of the Wallonie-Bruxels in Vietnam has visited and donated NLV 24 books on social sciences and humanities. Starting in 2001, the Wallonie-Bruxelles International has carried out a program to promote international publications on social and humanities in French, published in Wallonie and Bruxelles. This program takes place annually with aims to give scientific books to the Universities which are partners of the joined project of Wallonie Bruxelles, at the same time to meet the partner’s desire to consolidate material resources. These publications were selected by a Selection Committee including many experts in the field of book so they are ensured in the quality of information and level of the knowledge.

 

The opening of the document exhibition entitled: “Cultural Features of Cham People”

In the framework of the program: “Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival of Cham People” held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism (MoCST) and Ninh Thuan province from October 12-16, 2012, in the morning of October 13, in Cham Culture Research Center, Phan Rang – Thap Cham city, Ninh Thuan province, under the direction of MoCST’s leaders, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) has coordinated with 6 provincial and urban libraries including: Ninh Thuan Provincial Library; Ho Chi Minh city; Phu Yen; An Giang; Tay Ninh; Binh Thuan Natural Science Library, opened the exhibition: “Cultural Features of Cham People”.

 

Seminar on “Reading Culture and Book Reading Festival Day in Vietnam”

On 8th October 2012, in the National Library of Vietnam (NLV), the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has held a Seminar on “Reading culture and Book Reading Festival Day in Vietnam”. This is one in many activities in celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Publishing-Printing-Issuing Sector (10/10/1952-10/10/2012). This seminar focused on the prominent issues such as: the current state and guidelines of reading culture and, the Party’s policies, the State’s legislation policies on reading culture; the trends of developing reading culture in the coming time; the theoretical and practical basis to select “Vietnam Book Reading Day”.

 

H.E. Mr. Ranjit Rea – Ambassador of India to Viet Nam continues donating books to the National Library of Viet Nam

On 27th September 2012, H.E. Mr. Ranjit Rea – Ambassador of India to Viet Nam has directly donated National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) about 200 books which was collected by the Ambassador in U.S., Europe and South Africa etc., covering many subject areas introduced culture, homeland, people of India and other countries around the world, in different languages. This is not only the first time the Ambassador donating books, pictures and materials to the National Library of Viet Nam.

 

The National Library of Vietnam and the Asia Foundation continue to sign in the Agreement of Co-operation Period 2012-2015

On 25th September 2012, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) and the Asia Foundation have signed in Agreement of Co-operation period 2012-2015. According to the Agreement period of 2012-2015, the Asia Foundation to continue donating 120,000 books valued at 5,8 million USD to Vietnamese libraries with commitment that 100% of new books are funded in many subject areas and covered different levels of education which included e-book and CD-ROM. Beneficiary institutions in this project period including public, university, special libraries etc. among them, NLV will be the focal point agency of the Foundation to receive and distribute donated books to other beneficiary institutions.
