On the occasion of the 69th Anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, the 47th Anniversary of establishing the Association of Southeast Asian Nation – ASEAN, and 19 years since Viet Nam joined ASEAN, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the exhibition titled “ASEAN cultural space” on August 28, 2014.
Attending the Opening Ceremony were Mr. Vuong Duy Bien, Deputy Minister ofthe Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr. Le Nhu Tien, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and ChildrenAffairs, Mr. Nguyen The Ky, Deputy Head of the Central Committee’s Propaganda Department, Mrs. Phan Thi Kim Dzung – Director of the National Library of Viet Nam, the Ambassadors, representatives from Embassies: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand, representatives of foreign cultural centers in Viet Nam, representatives from Ministries, Departments, Agencies of the Country and Hanoi; public and readers.
There are around 1,000 typical materials displaying at the exhibition focusing on four main topics including the August Revolution and Viet Nam National Day September 2, Viet Nam’s development achievements from the beginning of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process until now; economic, cultural, and maritime situations of the Southeast Asia; Vietnam-ASEAN cooperation and Vietnam's role in the ASEAN community.
The displayed materials introduce meaning and significant historical value of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, confirm the stature of Vietnamese people, the wise leading of Communist Party and President Ho Chi Minh, popularize the Vietnamese achievements in the fields of politic, economy, culture, society, foreign affairs, security and defense after 28 years of Doi Moi (1986-2014).
In addition, the exhibition introduces documents about the formation of the ASEAN Community, the comprehensive cooperation of 10 ASEAN’s countries on matters related to politics- security, economy, culture-society; significant marks of Viet Nam as a member of the ASEAN family, especially in the process of ASEAN Community establishment; ASEAN countries’ consensus and consistency in reaching a Community of peace, security, stability and development.
Speaking at theopening ceremony, Mr. Vuong Duy Bien - Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said: "After joining ASEAN in 1995, Vietnam has made a positive contribution, realizing ASEAN's goals of building a unity ASEAN, striving for peace, sustainable development cooperation. Nowadays, under the reality of hostile forces are increasingly influenced in the region, the new challenges of the ASEAN Community is maintaining solidarity, keeping the central role and being the main driving force of the cooperation process and extensive links in the region".
The exhibition will be held at the National Library of Viet Nam, 31 Trang Thi str., from August 28 to September 15, 2014
