Documentary exhibition “Ha Noi with ASEAN countries” at Ha Noi 2016 Book Festival

From 6th – 10th October, 2016, Ha Noi 2016 Book Festival with the theme “Book and Integration” organized by the People’s Committee of Ha Noi City, the Department of Information and Communications has opened at Hoang Thanh Thang Long, Ha Noi. As the cultural activity to celebrate 62 years of Capital Liberation (10/10/1954 - 10/10/2016), also marking Viet Nam’s over 20-year journey of joining the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – ASEAN and almost a year of ASEAN Community’s formal establishment, Ha Noi 2016 Book Festival has brought together 168 booths of 46 publishers, the country’s leading book companies with the participation of 20 prestigious publishing groups and units coming from 12 countries around the world, including the Publishing Associations of ASEAN and other member countries.

 

Seminar: Library trends and activities in the U.S.

In order to help Vietnamese libraries shift from traditional library model to modern one and learn experiences of libraries in the U.S. regarding development trends of new library services, in the morning of October 14, 2016, the National Library of Viet Nam cooperated with American Center, the U.S. Embassy in Ha Noi to organize the seminar: “Library trends and activities in the U.S.: Experiences of integrating new technology and traditional library services in organizing reader services” with presentation of Nancy Battes Pearl. Attending the seminar were leaders and representatives of the Science, Technology and Environment Department – Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the National Agency for Science and Technology Information – Ministry of Science and Technology; Institute of Social Sciences Information, Library of Congress; Military Library; libraries of some military and public security academies; representatives of Ha Noi University of Culture, Faculty of Information-Library, Ha Noi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Home Affairs; representatives of some city/provincial libraries; staff of American Center, the U.S. Embassy in Ha Noi and staff of the National Library of Viet Nam.

In 4 days, from 6th to 9th September 2016, Vietnamese delegation including 04 officials of the National Library of Viet Nam and 02 officials of Binh Duong and Khanh Hoa Provincial Libraries attended The 2nd session of Project International Network of Emerging Library Innovators – Association of Southeast Asian Nations (INELI – ASEAN). With the goal to continue to build a network of emerging library innovators, those who hold strong vision for the future of the public library system in Southeast Asia, the session brought together more than 60 delegates who are Directors of National Libraries and Presidents of Library Associations, library – information professionals, experienced library staff from 10 CONSAL country members...
