In celebration of 40 years of diplomatic relations between the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and the Republic of France (12/4/1973-12/4/2013), many political, economic and cultural activities will be held in France and Viet Nam. In the recent years, the bilateral cooperation relationship in the fields of politics, economics, culture and other fields between Viet Nam and the Republic of France is growing to become an annual activity and play a significant role in strengthening the traditional ties of friendship and mutual understanding between the two nations with centuries-length history.
On April 8th 2013 – under the permission of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Viet Nam, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), Francophone Digital Network (Réseau francophone numérique /RFN) and International Organization of the Francophonie (OIF) jointly held the general assembly of the Réseau francophone numérique 2013 in Ha Noi.
This general assembly was attended by directors of national libraries and national archive centers from member countries: Bénin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Côte D’ivoire, France, Haiti, Madagasca, Mali, Morocco, Québec, Sénégal, Viet Nam and documentary institutions from French-speaking world including Francophone Multimedia Library of Limoges (France), Antananarivo University Library (Madagascar), Central Library of Cheikh Anta Diop University (Sénégal), African Institute of Basic research (Sénégal) as well as two OIF delegates from Paris office, Ms. Sandra Coulibaly-Leroy, Vice Director of French Language and Cultural Diversity and Ms. Anissa Barrack, Director of the OIF Asia - Pacific Office.
This is an annual meeting of RFN organized by OIF and national libraries of member countries with the view to establish a Francophone digital library based on the linkage among digital libraries of Francophone community members. The general assembly this year focused on such main contents as report on operation of the Réseau’s web portal, contribution of information resources to the portal by member countries, innovation of technology to access the RFN web, projects to develop the Réseau’s web portal in the future, quick report on Francophone Summit and suitable methods to develop the network in the future; country report of member countries about digital programs, projects, development of audio-visual, top treasures of member countries, etc. The meeting also considered the election of new members and the secretariat for the new term.
In the after noon of the same day, a Signing Ceremony of books donation from the national book centre of France, the National Library of France and the National Library of Viet Nam and the Opening Ceremony of the exhibition “Francophone space” were taken place at the National Library of Viet Nam.
