On the morning of April 23, 2021, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) and Ms. Suh Hye Ran, Chief Executive of the National Library of Korea (NLK) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on “Window on Korea” cooperation 2021-2025. The signing ceremony is held in the online form. “Window on Korea” (WOK) is a project by the NLK since 2007 to sponsor Korean and English resources in an effort to introduce the country and people of Korea in many fields, and support installation of open spaces at the selected libraries around the world to access these resources. The project has been effectively implemented at the NLV since 2007 on the basis of the MoU documents between the NLV and the NLK during the periods 2007-2011 and 2016-2020. In nearly 15 years implementing the WOK program, over 10,000 print items and digital resources on various topics in Korean and English have been provided to users in Viet Nam.

In celebration of the Viet Nam Book and Reading Culture Day April 21^st and the World Book and Copyright Day April 23^rd, with the approval of leader of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST), on April 16, 2021, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) in cooperation with agencies under ministries, departments, libraries, schools, international organizations, enterprises… organized the Book Festival 2021 with the theme: “Books – Mission for Reading Culture Development.”. Inheriting and promoting the successes of many years organizing the event, the Book Festival 2021 continues to be held to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, affirm the position, role and importance of reading culture and value books in social life; honor those doing the work of collecting, composing, publishing, printing, distributing, storing and promoting books; raise awareness of the community about the great significance and importance of reading and developing reading culture for building a knowledge society towards building Vietnamese people being developed comprehensively...

To effectively implement the plan of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) on implementing the strategy for developing reading culture, on the morning of April 15, 2021, the signing ceremony of cooperation program between the Authority of Publication, Printing and Distribution (APPD) and the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) took place at the NLV. On the morning of April 7, 2021, the French Embassy in Viet Nam cooperated with the National Library of Viet Nam to hold the opening ceremony of the France-Viet Nam Information Portal/Hoa Phuong Vi Digital Library. Mr. Nicolas Warnery, Ambassador of the French Republic to Viet Nam and Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the National Library of Viet Nam co-chaired the ceremony. Attending the event, there were Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hoa, Director of International Cooperation Department, Mr. Pham Quoc Hung, Director of Library Department (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism); Mr. Tran Dac Hien, Director of National Agency for Science and Technology – Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Michael Croft, UNESCO Representative to Viet Nam, Mr. Philippe Le Failler, Representative of the French School of the Far East in Ha Noi. On the morning of March 24, 2021, Mr. Nicolas Warnery, Ambassador of the French Republic to Viet Nam visited the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, NLV Director received the delegation. At the meeting, the Director extended the Ambassador a warm welcome and took the time to introduce an overview of the history of the NLV’s establishment and development over the past century, gave a brief overview about the diverse collections of the library and outlined the architectural features of the building as well as the reading rooms and storage system of the Library. Ambassador Nicolas Warnery sincerely thanked Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga for taking time to welcome and introduce the Library. He was impressed by the development results that the NLV has achieved during the last years and said that the two peoples of France and Viet Nam also have many similarities such as the love for books and literary works as well as the respect for authors and scholars.

On the morning of March 4, 2021, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) welcomed Mr. Etienne Rolland-Piègue, Counselor for Culture and Cooperation – French Embassy to Viet Nam and Mr. Phillipne Le Failler, Representative of the French School of the Far East to Viet Nam to visit and work. At the meeting, the NLV Director happily shared about results of the cooperation between the NLV and the NLF recently. She took the time to introduce about France-Viet Nam Information Portal which just opened on February 12, 2021, right on the first day of the traditional Vietnamese New Year. This is the result of diversified and effective cooperation between the two national libraries, based on the idea of the NLF mentioned in the Cooperation Agreement between the two libraries term 2016-2018. On the morning of February 26, 2021, at the National Library of Viet Nam, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga – Director of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) had a meeting with Mr. Pham Quoc Hung – Director of the Library Department to discuss the coordination between the two institutions in implementing programs and action plans ò the Viet Nam library sector in the new stage. Implementing the decision bythe Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) to implement projects on developing national standards, on December 30, 2020, the NLV organized the first symposium to collect comments on thedevelopment ofthe National Standard “Information and Documentation – Open systems Interconnection – Interlibrary Loan Application Service definition”, led by MAKieu Thuy Nga, NLV director, as project manager. To celebrate the 50^th anniversary of the establishment of the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF), in implementation of the direction of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST), on the morning of November 24, 2020, in Ha Noi, the National Library of Viet Nam held signing ceremony of cooperation agreement between the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) on the implementation of the Francophone Book Space project in Viet Nam’s libraries.
