The exhibition "Arnold Schönberg and the New Viennese School" presents the audience to 12 large-format photographs documenting the life and career of Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg and his two finest students, Anton Webern and Alban Berg. Arnold Schönberg advanced music to a new level by creating a non-tonal musical language with a 12-tone technical system and establishing a separate movement and school in music history. He was a 20th-century avant-garde musician, the founder of the New Viennese School, and an acclaimed pedagogue who raised a generation of young gifted musicians for Europe and the world.
At the Exhibition's Opening Ceremony, delegates and visitors were treated to a concert of Viennese Waltzes by Arnold Schönberg, Alban Berg, and Antwon Webern, performed by Vietnamese Symphony Orchestra and famous vocalist Dao To Loan; music supervisor is Mr. Tetsuji Honna, the primary conductor of the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra.
The event is part of a series of activities commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Austria (December 1, 1972 - December 1, 2022). The National Library of Viet Nam and the Austrian Embassy in Viet Nam have helped to strengthen cultural cooperation between the two nations and offer up new avenues for future collaboration.
The exhibition will take place from July 8 to 22, 2022. The next two concerts by the artists of the Viet Nam National Symphony Orchestra will perform at 6:30 p.m. on July 16 and 22, 2022, at the National Library of Viet Nam, 31 Trang Thi, Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi.
