NATIONAL LIBRARY OF VIETNAM

On January 5^th, 2012 the National Library of Viet Nam in cooperation with the United States Embassy, Hanoi organized the Exhibition “Using safe, rational and effective Medicine”. Within the framework of exhibition, at the same day, the public has also had a chance to participate in a Talk of the same topic in two specific themes “International Experience in managing and using safe medicine” delivered by Dr. Mehmood Anwar, deputy director Viet Nam for Management Sciences for Health; and “Situations and Recommendations for using safe Medicine in Viet Nam” by Professor Doctor Trinh Van Quy, Former Director of the National Institute of Drug Quality Control, Former President of Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia.

On December 19, 2011, at the National Library of Viet Nam, Dr. Dan Dorner had a talk with Vietnamese librarians with the theme “The role of IFLA and the IFLA Regional Standing Committee for Asia and Oceania (RSCAO) and how Vietnamese libraries can be involved; Current issues of cataloging and digital libraries”. At the talk, Dr. Dan Dorner has given brieft introduction about IFLA, core activities of IFLA, new initiatives of IFLA and efforts for strenthening collaboration and connection among libraries in the Asia and Oceania. He also shared viewpoints and international experiences about current issues of cataloging standards and digital libraries building.

On 11^th December 2011, delegation of Ministry of Education, Lao People's Democratic Republic, lead by Mr.Seng Sou Vanh – Principal of the Friendship school in Vientiane, Laos visit the National Library of Vietnam. Accompnying the delegation is Ms. Vu Thi Anh, the Principal of Friendship 80, Son Tay and 50 students are officials from Laos Ministry of Education and school principals attending the training courses on rennovation of teaching methods textbooks reform and IT application in education..
