NATIONAL LIBRARY OF VIETNAM

In the afternoon of January 20, 2012, the last working day of the Year 2011, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyễn Bắc Son paid a visit to the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), wished the Directorial Board and staff of the NLV a Happy New Year and presented photographs to the Library.

The NLV operates under the management of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism but up to 85% of its national collection comes from Publishing Houses and Press Agencies of the Ministry of Information and Communications. With the functions to collect, preserve and promote the national culture written heritage, the NLV has established effective collaborations with Publishing Houses and Press Agencies throughout the country to collect the most sufficient publications in Viet Nam as well as publications about Viet Nam published overseas.

On 11^th January 2012, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) organizes Conference of officials and employees and summarizes the Party work 2011; implementation of the work plan 2012. The Resolution has been adopted at the Conference which determined the direction, key tasks in 2012 toward 95^th anniversary of the National Library of Vietnam’s establishment, year 2012 is the year to implement phase 1 of the work plan to improve the library followed up the model "National Library: Traditional - modern -  Digital National Library"; striving to achieve "First-class Independence Medal" by the State.

On January 5^th, 2012 the National Library of Viet Nam in cooperation with the United States Embassy, Hanoi organized the Exhibition “Using safe, rational and effective Medicine”. Within the framework of exhibition, at the same day, the public has also had a chance to participate in a Talk of the same topic in two specific themes “International Experience in managing and using safe medicine” delivered by Dr. Mehmood Anwar, deputy director Viet Nam for Management Sciences for Health; and “Situations and Recommendations for using safe Medicine in Viet Nam” by Professor Doctor Trinh Van Quy, Former Director of the National Institute of Drug Quality Control, Former President of Vietnamese Pharmacopoeia.
