Implementing Decision number 875/QD-BVHTTDL dated March 31, 2023 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on annual training of digital transformation, from September 20-21, 2023, in Da Nang, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) organized a training course on data processing and standardization. As a continuation ofthe training courses "Digitizing materials forimplementation ofdigital transformation" in the series of professional training courses organized by the NLVsince2022 with the topics: Standard file formats for digital materials; provide guidance onthe process of digitizing documentsand processing digital materialsusing free software while still meeting the quality requirements for processing digital materialsin library activities,this year's training program focuses on equipping and updating content aboutprocessing and standardizing metadata for digital resources, suitable for many audiences such as catalogers, metadata catalogers, manager and technical officer in charge of digital library development, database administrators, website developers...
On the morning of August 31, 2023, in Ha Noi, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MoCST) held a ceremony to announce the appointment decisions. Mr. Nguyen Van Hung – Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism attended and chaired the event. In the speech to congratulate and assign tasks to newly appointed officials, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung affirmed that in recent times, the personnel work has been carried out by the Party Civil Affairs Committee in the spirit of democracy, objectivity, transparency, fairness, and compliance with the correct procedures. From August 21 to 25, 202, the 88th World Libraries and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA WLIC 87) has taken place in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Congress gathered more than 3,000 delegates representing the library and information industry of over 100 countries in the world. The Vietnamese delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Acting Director of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) has actively participated in the Congress. With the theme "Let's work together, let’s library", over 230 official sessions with more than 500 presentations shared about libraries and global vision, libraries with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, advocacy for library activities, copyright, artificial intelligence and libraries, the ways to promote reading and bringing back patrons to the library, development of language and digital skills, open access to culture, digital knowledge, library marketing, library services for people with disabilities, library and information sciences education, etc. In addition to the sessions taking place at the Rotterdam Ahoy Convention Center, the Organizing Committee also live-streamed key sessions to promptly convey information to thousands of interested people globally.
In order to actively implement activities within the framework of the Public Diplomacy Program jointly implemented by the Presidential Office and the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the morning of August 16, 2023, at the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), Ms. Devletsah Yayan - Chargé d'Affaires on behalf of the Turkish Embassy in Viet Nam presented 147 books in the fields of history, culture, science, art... in both languages English and Turkish to the NLV. On behalf the NLV, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung – Acting Director expressed his appreciation for the gift presented by the Turkish Embassy, emphasizing that this is a very meaningful activity which helps enrich resources for the Library and creates conditions for readers and the public to learn about the history, culture, and people of Turkey. Through this activity, the NLV’s leader hopes that the Turkish Embassy in Viet Nam will help connect national libraries of the two countries, first of all in the field of document exchange, creating a premise for extensive cooperation in the future.
On August 12, 2023, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) organized a ceremony to receive nearly 200 books donated by the National Library of Korea, through the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in Viet Nam. This is an annual activity within the framework of the “Window on Korea” program period 2021-2026. From June 21-23, 2023, the annual conference of the General Assembly of Francophone Digital Network (RFN-AISBL) took place in Alexandria, Egypt, with the participation of 24 delegates representing 18 libraries and national archives of the Francophone countries. Attending the conference, the delegation of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) was led by Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Deputy Director. This is the first in-person conference after a 3-year interrupted due to the impact of COVID-19 worldwide. The conference listened to the 2022 RFN-AISBL’s Report presented by representatives of the executive committee, which focused on a number of regional projects, such as the MemoAfricaNum-IFAN project to digitize and promote the special oral legacy of West Africa, the project to digitize the Arabic and Ajamis manuscripts as part of the “Hidden collections in Africa” of CLIR (Council on Library and Information Resources), the emergency digitization project valued 70,000 euros funded by ALIPH (International Union for Conservation of Heritage) for the Bibliothèque des Spiritans Haïtiens (Library of Haitian Catholic Missionaries) to digitize documents after the 2011 earthquake.

Incommemoration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the Poet Petöfi (1823 - 2023), on the afternoon of May 29, 2023, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) and the Hungarian Embassy in Viet Nam collaborated to organize the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Petöfi: Around the World”. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Acting Director of the NLV, and Mr. Tibor Baloghdi– Hungarian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam co-chaired the ceremony. The exhibition “Petöfi: Around the World” is a unique journey that takes attendances on a journey through 19 large-format photographs, including 15 ones in Vietnamese and 4 with similar content in English, sketching the life and many contributions of Sándor Petöfi– the great Hungarian poet and revolutionary. This event is one of the activities of the cooperation program to promote cultural exchange between Vietnam and Hungary. Besides extensive, effective and comprehensive cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, defense, education, training, science and technology, environment, and health... the two sides also made great efforts to promote active cooperation in the field of culture, share experiences in preserving and promoting national cultural identity and traditions in the development process...
On the afternoon of May 18, 2023, Mr. Choi Seung Jin – new Director of the Korean Cultural Center visited the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV), Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung - Acting Director of the NLV received the delegation. At the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung congratulated Mr. Choi Seung Jin on his new assignment in Viet Nam, briefly introduced the establishment and development history of the National Library of Viet Nam, and reviewed the cooperation activities between the two agencies over the past time: receiving Korean materials at the NLV, building the Children’s Cultural Library, implementing some reading promotion activities for children… Taking this opportunity, the NLV’s Acting Director expressed his appreciation for the support of the Korean Cultural Center and suggested that the two sides should continue to cooperate in the coming time. On the occasion of Europe Day (May 9) and the International Biennial Photo Hanoi'23, on the afternoon of May 13, 2023, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) and the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegations in Viet Nam organized the opening ceremony of the Photo Exhibition “Orange Wounds”. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung, Acting Director of the NLV and Mr. Nicolas Dervaux, Representative of the Governments of the French-speaking Belgian community and the Wallonia Region in Viet Nam co-chaired the ceremony.
