Following the training course to be held in Sa Pa town, Lao Cai province for libraries in Northern region, on October 5, 2022, in Rach Gia city, Kien Giang province, the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) organized closing ceremony of the training course “Digital Transformation Program of the library sector to 2025 with a vision to 2030” for libraries from Da Nang to Southern region. This is the last training course, held from October 4 to 5, 2022 and is a part of the digitization training program for public libraries, university libraries, special libraries and armed forces libraries nationwide.
At the closing ceremony, on behalf of the trainees, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nha – Deputy Director of Can Tho City Library and Ms. Le Thi Thanh Nhan – Deputy Director of Da Nang Learning Resources and Communication Center extended their sincere thanks to the NLV’s leaders for the attention and favorable conditions for the class. The NLV has shown a key role in providing knowledge about digitization of library materials, helping libraries in the whole country acquire general knowledge about digitization, using digitization equipment and devices, as well as the process for digitizing library materials. The NLV has well prepared for the training course, lecturers are experts in the field of information technology providing many practical examples, making it easier for trainees to understand and absorb knowledge. In addition, the training materials are meticulously and scientifically prepared by the NLV have become a useful reference source for the trainees on the process of implementing digitization transformation their libraries.
Speaking at the conclusion and closing of the training course, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga – Director of the National Library of Viet Nam highly appreciated the trainees’ serious learning process. Although trainees have to familiarize themselves with new techniques, they have grasped the lecture content relatively quick and convenient. Besides listening to the lecturers introducing basic and important contents about digitizing library materials, many trainees had profound discussions and exchanges, creating a lively, positive learning atmosphere, helping the acquisition of knowledge about digitization of library materials get the best results. On behalf of the Organizing Committee, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga congratulated all trainees for successfully accomplishing the training course and stated that with the determination to build standards for data, information exchange, connectivity and resource sharing among domestic libraries and exchange with foreign libraries, the digitization transformation in Vietnamese libraries will definitely be successfully.
After the training course, the trainees have mastered important skills for digitizing library materials, helping them to well perform their tasks on such professional aspects as understanding File formats and standards in digitization; mastering library materials’ digitization equipment, digitization process, understanding digitization processing techniques with ScanTailor and Cute PDF software; being able to digitize library materials, processing digital materials using Photoshop, Microsoft Picture Manager, ScanTailor, Cute PDF software…
At the end of the training course, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, NLV’s Director and Ms. Nguyen Diep Mai – Deputy Director of Kien Giang Culture and Sports Department presented certificates of completion to all trainees.
