Speaking at the opening of the training course, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga – Director of the National Library of Viet Nam emphasized that digital transformation is a mandatory requirement and an inevitable trend of industries and fields in the context of the industrial revolution 4.0. To implement effective digital transformation, the development of digital information resources is one of the important contents and tasks of libraries at present. However, the number of libraries implementing this work is still small or the quality of digital resources developed by libraries still doesn’t meet the standard, making it difficult to ensure data integration, communication and sharing of digital resources. The training course “Digitization of library materials serving digital transformation” aims to equip librarians with basic and necessary knowledge about the process and method of digitizing materials, as well as technique for handling digital material to create digital collections and databases for digital transformation of libraries.
At the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dung – Deputy Director of Lao Cai Department of Culture and Sports highly appreciated the importance of the training course “Digitization of library materials serving digital transformation” organized by the National Library of Viet Nam and expected that after the training course, the trainees will gain useful and effective knowledge to serve the task of digitizing library materials serving digital transformation at their libraries.
