The 2nd meeting of CONSAL XVI Executive Board held in Thailand as the annual meeting of Executive Board members of CONSAL, it was also the preparatory meeting of the Congress of librarians in Southeast Asia countries. The meeting was chaired by the Thai Library Association and National Library of Thailand, organized at the Kantary Hills Hotel, ChiangMai, Thailand from 7th to 10th 2014.
Participated in the meeting, there were 36 representatives of the CONSAL Executive Board members and observers from 10 member countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Viet Nam; East Timor has participated in the meeting as an associated member. The Vietnamese delegation included three representatives from the National Library of Viet Nam and the Vietnam Library Association.
Besides content as annual reports on the library activities of member countries, reports on progress of CONSAL’s programs and projects etc., at this meeting, the host country reported the preparation for the General Conference of CONSAL XVI. According to 2015 estimates, the General Assembly CONSAL XVI will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 10th to 13th with the theme "ASEAN Aspirations: Libraries for Sustainable Advancement"
At the meeting, participants proposed and discussed the main themes of the General Conference CONSAL XVI as the call for paper, CONSAL Outstanding librarians Awards, way of support and encouragement librarians participating in the General Conference etc.
The meeting also agreed and decided that the General Conference of CONSAL XVII will be hosted by Myanmar.
