Photo exhibition "Gabriela Mistral 70 years after receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature: The Daughter of a new Nation"

To commemorate the 130th anniversary of the birth of the famous Chilean poet - Gabriela Mistral (September 24, 2019) the Embassy of Chile in Viet Nam in collaboration with the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) organized the opening of the photo exhibition entitled "Gabriela Mistral 70 years after receiving the Nobel Prize in Literature: The Daughter of a new Nation".

Attending the exhibition were Mr. Pham Quoc Hung - Deputy Director of the Library Department, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Mr. Le Cong Tien - Deputy Director of the Department of America Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Nguyen Van Tich - President of Viet Nam - Chile Friendship and Cooperation Association; Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi - President of Viet Nam Library Association; Mr. Jaime Chomali - Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to Viet Nam; Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung - Deputy Director of the NLV, along with leaders, delegates from ministries, departments and central agencies in Hanoi, members of the diplomatic missions, students and friends of Chile, news agencies, press and television, the public and readers.

In order to help Vietnamese people better understand about Chilean culture, the Embassy of Chile has announced photos about Gabriela Mistral’s career and life, the famous Chilean educator, diplomat, writer and poet. She is the pride of the Chilean people, the first Latin American writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1945, considered a faithful guardian of democracy, rights of women, children and the poor. The lyrical poetry, which inspired by powerful emotions, has made her name a symbol of the idealistic aspirations of the entire Latin American world.

On this occasion, the Chilean Ambassador presented awards to the winners of a writing contest celebrating the 130th anniversary of the renowned female poet’s birthday.

The event is an occasion to promote culture exchanges between Chile and Viet Nam, as well as to further strengthen the traditional friendly relationship between the people of the two countries.

Exhibition time is from September 24-30, 2019, at the National Library of Viet Nam, 31 Trang Thi, Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi.
