In honor of the 124th Anniversary of birthday of President Ho Chi Minh and the 60th Anniversary of the historic victory of Dien Bien Phu , in the morning of 6th May 2014, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism opened the Exhibition "Dien Bien Phu Victory through the material in the country and abroad” at the National Library of Viet Nam.
Attending the Opening Ceremony, there were Mr. Le Nhu Tien, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly’s Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and Children Affairs; Ms. Dang Thi Bich Lien – Member of Personnel Committee, Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tuan – Director General of Propaganda Directorate, General Department of Politics, Ministry of Defense; Mr. Le Anh Tho - Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Party Committee; Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi - Chairman of the Trade Union Ministry of Culture , Sports and Tourism; Ms. Vu Duong Thuy Nga – Deputy Director General of Library Department; Mr.Pham The Khang – Chairman of Vietnam Library Association; Mr. Nguyen Kiem - Standing Vice- President of the Publishers Association of Viet Nam; Ms. Phan Thi Kim Dung - Director of the National Library of Viet Nam ; Mahmoud Alizadeh – 3rd Secretary, Embassy of Iran; Mr. Babatunde A.Nurudeen - First Secretary at the Embassy of Nigeria ; Ms. Rodriguez Barrios Liurka - First Secretary, Embassy of Cuba; Mauricio Medeiros De Assis - First Secretary at the Embassy of Brazil; Mr. Habibollah Pour Motahar - First Secretary , Counsellor at the Embassy of Iran; representatives from Ministries, Departments, Agencies in Hanoi and Provinces; international organizations, libraries and many readers.
The exhibition Exhibition "Dien Bien Phu Victory through the material in the country and abroad” introduced more than 800 items including books, newspapers, excerpts, photos. They are organized according to five themes: Context of the Dien Bien Phu campaign; Evolution of the Dien Bien Phu campaign; President Ho Chi Minh, General Vo Nguyen Giap and the Dien Bien Phu campaign through foreign materials; Dien Bien Phu - Symbol of the Strength of Viet Nam; Movies archive on the Dien Bien Phu Victory.
This material during the last 60 years a lot of generals, historians, military, historical researchers and journalists in Viet Nam and foreign countries did not hesitate to waste effort and intelligence to spend time researching, understanding written thousands of pages of books, thousands of articles on Dien Bien Phu. Dien Bien Phu Victory is no longer “own” the people of Viet Nam that has become a part of world history. Dien Bien Phu victory is a source of motivation to further the struggle for colonial people, oppressed people all over the world, especially Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa stand up to drive colonialism, liberate nations, bring independence and freedom to their countries.
During the Opening Ceremony, Ms. Dang Thi Bich Lien - Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism hope these historical values will force the Vietnamese generations to overcome all the difficulties and all the challenges, for unite to win other "Dien Bien Phu victories" in defense, construction and development of the country, to be worthy of the status and reputation of friends admired by people in the world, considered "the conscience of our time", the “pioneer” of the national liberation movement, to actively contribute to the struggle for peace, independence, democracy and social progress of the people and the world.
During the exhibition, the public and the readers had the opportunity to interact and communicate with the speaker, military historian Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tuan and witnesses who participated in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu. Through the Conference Lieutenant General Nguyen Thanh Tuan helped the public to have a more general overview of the historic battle and to better know the fighting spirit, the will of the army and people of Viet Nam in the 56 days and nights that is victory "famous in 5 continents and shaking the globe".
The exhibition will be open from 6th to 19th May 2014 at the National Library of Viet Nam , 31 Trang Thi Street, Hoan Kiem, Ha Noi.
