On March 10th 2011, at the National Library of Vietnam, the Publishing Department, Ministry of Information and Communication has organized a Conference on the plan and professional guidance of publishing in 2011. Presented at the Conference, there were Deputy Minister of the Information and Communication Do Quy Doan, Vice Chief of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Education Nguyen The Ky, representatives from Government offices, Publishing Houses and press agencies.
Overall picture of the Conference
The year of 2010 is the year of many important events in the country. Publishing industry has actively involved many meaningful activities to celebrate the national holidays. However, the publishing industry is also facing difficulties of the country such as the impact of global economic volatility, natural disasters, floods in Central of Vietnam etc ... However, the increasingly fierce competition of the local audio-visual, mass media, has strongly impacted to the operation of the industry. However, under the direct care of the Party and State, the close cooperation of ministries, sectors and localities, the publishing sector has been in effort to complete assigned tasks.

At the conference, the report summarized works in 2010, participants assessed the results achieved as well as those existing, limitations of publishing industry in 2010 and deployed tasks in 2011. Year 2011 is especially important, is the first year to implement the resolutions of the 11th Congress Party and starting to implement five years plan of social and economic development (2011-2015). Therefore, the sector requires raising the sense of initiative, creativity as well as publishing many valuable books, satisfying the society needs on publishing, building a strong publishing industry in order to contribute to promoting social economy development of the country.

On the occasion of the conference held at the National Library of Vietnam, the participants have visited; discovered more about storage facilities and warehouses system included legal deposit storage, newspapers storage, general storage and the library's reading room. National Library of Vietnam is the institution to receive, store all publications issued by the publishers in the country. So, visiting the library's archive, the publishing industry participants have more opportunities to verify the products of publishing industry are appreciated, used and promoted the positive effects to help develop reading culture of the nation. Thereby we will see more clearly the close relationship between the publishing, distribution and libraries, and this relationship will always be strengthened, development especially in recent years.
