    General Assembly of Francophone Digital Network in Rabat, Maroc

    From May 13-14, 2024, the annual conference of the General Assembly of Francophone Digital Network (RFN-AISBL) took place in Rabat, Morocco with the participation of 26 delegates participating in person and 7 delegates participating online representing 20 libraries and archives of the Francophone countries. Attending the conference, the delegation of the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) was led by Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Anh, Deputy Director. In particular, on this occasion, the National Library of Viet Nam and the National Library of France have completed the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between the two libraries. The two sides expressed the hope to have specific implementation steps early to continue developing the France-Viet Nam Information Portal in the near future.

    Documentary exhibition “Dien Bien Phu Victory – The Strength of Viet Nam and the Stature of the Times”

    The historic victory of Dien Bien Phu has contributed to embellishing our nation's heroic history of fighting against foreign invaders, and will forever be a shining symbol of revolutionary heroism, resilient will, bravery, intelligence and Vietnamese military art. The victory left many valuable lessons and experiences, and was a great source of encouragement for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland. On the occasion of the 70th Anniversary of the historic Victory of Dien Bien Phu (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024), the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) organized Documentary exhibition "Victory of Dien Bien Phu – The strength of Viet Nam and the Stature of the Times". More than 800 typical materials including books, newspapers, and magazines arranged in four contents, along with 70 photos, maps, and artifacts numbered and arranged in chronological order ofevent were displayed at the exhibition.

    In celebration of the Viet Nam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) and World Book and Copyright Day (April 23), The National Library of Vietnam (NLV), in collaboration with various ministries, branches, international organizations, libraries, schools, publishers, bookstores, and businesses, organized the Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 on April 20, 2024 under the theme: The World I Read. The Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 is a significant event reaffirming books' position and indispensable role in social life. It aims to encourage and develop the reading movement in the community, not only limited to traditional printed materials but also expanded to audio, visual, and digital platforms. At the same time, it honors those who write, make, preserve, and promote books; connects domestic and foreign readers, and creates positive effects in building a learning society, contributing to the promotion of Vietnamese culture and people towards the goal of country's sustainable development. Activities on the Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 are designed in many rich and diverse forms with attractive content, drawing the attention and participation of a large number of readers and the public.

    Meeting writer Bernard Werber revolving around the works The Ant Trilogy and Pandora's Box

    On the afternoon of March 16, 2024, a discussion revolving around the works The Ants trilogy and Pandora’s Box named “Meeting writer Bernard Werber” took place at the National Library of Viet Nam. The event was jointly organized by the National Library of Viet Nam, the French Institute in Ha Noi and Nha Nam Culture and Communication Joint Stock Company. Attending the discussion, from the delegate side, were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung – Director of the National Library of Viet Nam and Ms. Sophie Maysonnave – Cultural Counselor of the French Embassy, Director of the French Institute. The event also welcomed the large participation of more than 200 library readers and the public.
