On the afternoon of August 19, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Mexico to Viet Nam, Mr. Alejandro Negrínpaid a working visit to the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV). Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the NLV received the delegation.
At the meeting, the Director expressed her pleasure to welcome Ambassador Alejandro Negrín and took time to briefly introduce the establishment and development history of the National Library of Viet Nam over the past century, the existing collections, especially the ancient and rare collections of the library, such as the HanNomcollectionand Indochina collection, and shared with the Ambassador about the development orientation of the NLV in the future. In addition, the Director also reviewed some recent outstanding cultural exchange activities between the NLV and diplomatic missions and international organizations in Vietnam, including activities with Mexican Embassy.
Ambassador Alejandro Negrín was pleased to share with the Director recent developments in the cooperation relationship between Viet Nam and Mexico, especially in the fields of trade, and said that in an effort to promote the two country’s relations to a new height, it is necessary to further promote the cultural cooperation. At present, Mexico has some plans and projects to promote development cooperation and cultural exchange between the two countries, and the Ambassador wished the National Library of Viet Nam would be one of the cooperation partners of the Mexican Embassy in implementing these plans in the coming time.
Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga welcomed the idea of Ambassador Alejandro Negrín and affirmed that the National Library of Viet Nam is ready to cooperate with the Embassy of the Republic of Mexico in organizing cultural exchange events at the library to bring the rich and colorful culture of Mexico closer to the library’s users and the public. The two sides agreed to continue to discuss in more detail and have a specific implementation plan in the coming time.
