Attending the Opening Ceremony, there are representatives from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism: Mr. Dao Manh Hung – Director of Training Department, Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai – Director of Library Department, Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi – Chairman of Trade Union, Mr.Tran Hoang – Deputy Director of Planning and Finance Department, Ms.Vu Duong Thuy Nga – Deputy Director of Library Department, Mr. Pham The Khang – President of Vietnamese Association, Mrs. Shirley Ingles Cruz – Special Libraries Association – Asian Chapter, Ms. Luisa Madlangbayan – President of the Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines, Dr. Reinhard Feldmann – Director & Special Adviser, Department of Historical Collection, University of Munster(Germany), Ms. Alicia Paraiso – Head of the Library, Goethe Institute in Philippines, Dr. Milagros Santos Ong -Director of the Library of Supreme Court of the Philippines.

The training workshopis a part of capacity building initiative to preserve library materials for the Southeast Asia libraries of the Special Libraries Association – Asian Chapter, in collaboration with National Library of Viet Nam, Laos and Philippines proposed at the 79^th IFLA in Singapore in 2013. The training workshop at NLV took place in 2 days: from 24^th to 25^th March 2014 with main activities: (i) Lecture by Dr. Reinhard Feldmann - Director & Special Adviser, Department of Historical Collection, University of Munsteron topic “Preservation, Conservation, Restoration, Data Curation, Digitization, iCloud, long term storage of digital data”, (ii) Practical guide on preservation skills of traditional materials by experts from the NLV (iii) Sharing practical experiences on traditional and digital preservation by experts from Library of Supreme Court of the Philippines, National Agency for Science and Technology Information, State Records Management and Archives Department of Viet Nam, CCS (Content Conversion Specialists) (Germany), EMICO Co., IDT, IGROUP Viet Nam, TED Engineering.

Following Viet Nam, the two similar training workshops will be held at the National Library of Laos from 27^th to 28^th March 2014, Aquinas University of Legazpi, Philippines from 10^th to 12^th April 2014.
