Hanoi French club delegation visits the National Library of Vietnam

In the morning of April 26, 2011, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) received Hanoi French Club delegation headed by Ms. Alexandra De Broca, French Lady Ambassador to Vietnam at the NLV.

Hanoi French club is an organization for French-speaking people and their families currently living and working in Hanoi.  Founded about 15 years ago, the current total members of the club are up to 500 people from 180 families. Every year, a number of cultural and sports activities have been organized by the club.

At the reception, Ms. Phan Thi Kim Dung, director of the NLV has delivered a brief presentation of the library history, collections and services as well as the fruitful development and progress of the NLV – Francophone agencies and organizations relations recently, especially the cooperation relationship between the NLV and the National Library of France as well as with national libraries in the Francophone community.

The delegation has visited the exhibition "Books and users-friendly environment" at the library hall, reading rooms and collections of the NLV. Especially, the delegation has got a chance to visit the Indochina books store, one of the precious heritage materials being stored and preserved at the NLV. Hanoi French club members admired very much the value of rare collections of the NLV as well as preservation and conservation of those collections at the NLV. They hope to become close users of the NLV in the near future.
