Viet Nam and Peru have been close partners for many years. The NLV has always been selected as the destination to promote culture exchange, introduce and popularize literature, culture, cuisine and tourism of Peru through activities of donating books, journals and magazines.

At the exhibition of “The beginning of a history” organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Peru and the National Library of Viet Nam not long ago, the public and NLV’s readers have had the chance to witness the historical meeting between the indigenous Indian culture and Western culture taken place at the beginning of the seventeenth century in Peru through nearly 400 artworks by Felipe Guamán de Ayala. The author of these artworks is an indigenous chronicle and a witness who used images and handwritings to record the indigenous Indian perspectives on the process of forming Peru. The artworks in the chronicles not only represent the culture characteristics of the Indians, but also contribute to narrate the important milestones of the early period of the Americas conquest by the Spanish, and the establishment of the Vice Kingdom of Peru.

Within the framework of the event to present the very unique and meaningful artworks, in his speech, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dung – NLV Deputy Director has expressed the sincere thanks to Ambassador Augusto Morelli Salgado, and stated that these artworks will be valuable documents for the NLV’s readers learning about history and country of Peru.
