Documentary Exhibition entitled “Ha Long Bay, exotic Beaches and Islands of Vietnam”

In celebration of 66th Anniversary of August Revolution and the Independence Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2nd 1945 – September 2nd 2011) and the Vietnamese Tourism Year 2011 themed “Exotic beaches and islands”, under the approval of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam. Today, the National Library of Vietnam (NLV) in cooperation with Publishing Directorate, Publishing Houses, Book companies, corporations, central and local agencies, provincial/municipal libraries nationwide and international organizations in Hanoi organizes an "exhibition on pictures, photos, maps and documents entitled “Ha Long Bay, exotic Beaches and Islands of Vietnam”.

More than 1,000 items featuring information inculded materials, books, maps, photos, audio-viusal documents about Ha Long Bay and Vietnam's sea and islands areas are on exhibition at the NLV etc. which are selected from NLV’s various collection and city/provicial libraries in Vietnam.

The exhibition is a chance for readers and public at home and abroad to deeper understand about the natural beauty of Vietnam, the hospitable and friendly Vietnamese people and the charming culture of Vietnam; more understand about NLV’s collection abundant in materials about beaches and islands including copies of documents, ancient bibliography on beaches and islands dated from the 17th century to present.

Through these selected materials displayed at the exhibition "Ha Long Bay, beaches and islands of Vietnam", the NLV and coordinating institutions would like to introduce to readers at home and abroad the unique and particularly interesting traits of exotic beaches and islands tourism of Vietnam; thence loving more and making more effort to build and promote value of the sea and islands; this also help to raise awareness of the responsibility for management, conservation and protect seas and islands and the nation; Vietnam strives to become a powerful maritime country, enrich from the sea, contributing to stability and national development.

On this occasion, with the hopes to promote reading culture in the country, the NLV calls for sponsor from 31 agencies including Publishing Directorate, Publishing Houses, Book companies, Bookstores, Enteprises etc. donated books, library equipments for 27 public libraries in marine areas and 2 public libraries in difficulty. Each library receives 1,000 books and among them, 3 libaries receive computers.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the Youth Union of the NLV host an exchange program entitled “Discovering the beauty of beaches and islands of Vietnam through book pages”; participants of Youth Union from 4 institutions attended the program included
