In the morning of 12th July 2011, delegation from Publishing and Library Department, Ministry of Information and Culture, Laos had a working visit to the National Library of Vietnam (NLV). Mrs. Phan Thi Kim Dzung – Director and Mr. Dang Van Uc – Deputy Director of the NLV received Laos delegation.

The Laos delegation consists of Mr. Sivienkhek Konnyvong – Director; Mr. Kavinh Kiangkhamsonny – Deputy Director; Mr. Souvanda Chansuayvanpheng - Office Manager; Ms. Phouangvanh Phommisay - Head of Library Management Division, Publishing and Library Department, Ministry of Information and Culture, Laos and Ms. Bouakhay Phengphachanh – Deputy Director of National library of Laos.
Vietnam and Laos has durable traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation has been built and developed nearly half a century, particularly in the aspects of education, culture, sports and tourism etc.. Vietnam and Laos often facilitate exchange officlials and staff of the Ministry of Culture in both countries to meet, exchange, and learn from each other for mutual development.
NLV has a very strongly attached with National Library of Laos in material exchanges, information technology applications, librarians trainings as well as helping each other join all activities of CONSAL, CDNL, CDNL-AO, …
This working visit to the National Library of Vietnam of delegation from Ministry of Information and Culture has continued to strengthen co-operation, muatual assistance between NLV and Publishing and Library Department in general and National Library of Laos in particular.
During the meeting, the leaders of NLV and the National Library of Laos discussed issues related to digitalize materials, develop library services, promote reading culture, mobile library services, materials exchange, develop Vietnnamese collection in Laos and Laos collection in Vietnam etc.,
Besides the meeting, delegates visited Legal Deposit Division, Acquisition and International Book Exchange Division, Preservation Division, Book Reading Rooms and General storage
After this working visit, Laos delegates expressed desires that NLV will support training and fostering, enhancing professionalím for library staffs in the upcoming time, implementing international professional library standards etc. to support National Library of Laos keeping up the development of libraries in the region and in the world.
