On the morning of September 15, 2022, the Ambassador of the Republic of Argentinato Viet Nam, Mr. Luis Pablo María Beltramino paid a working visit to the National Library of Viet Nam (NLV). Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, Director of the NLV received the delegation.

At the meeting, Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga, NLV Director expressed her pleasure to welcome Ambassador Luis Pablo María Beltramino and briefly introduced the establishment and development history of the NLV over the past century, the functions, tasks, information resources, and outstanding international cooperation activities of the NLV in recent years.

Ambassador Luis Pablo María Beltramino expressed his sincere appreciation to Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga for taking the time to receive the delegation and introduce the NLV. The Ambassador was impressed by the development history as well as the rich information resources of the NLV, at the same time, he appreciated the effective cooperation between the NLV and international agencies and organizations, including the Argentine Embassy. On that basis, Ambassador Luis Pablo María Beltramino proposed a cooperative program between the Argentine Embassy and the National Library of Viet Nam in the near future in two main areas:  First, regarding library activities, the Ambassador proposed the possibility of bilateral cooperation between the National Library of Viet Nam and the National Library of Argentina. The Ambassador expressed his desire to act as a bridge for the two libraries to contact and exchange, and if possible, to sign a cooperation agreement as a basis for implementing cooperative activities in the future. Secondly, the Embassy of the Republic of Argentina would like that the National Library of Viet Nam, with its experience and on the basis of the existing cooperative tie with the Argentine Embassy, could collaborate with the Embassy to organize some cultural activities in the series of joint activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Viet Nam and Argentina in 2023.

Ms. Kieu Thuy Nga welcomed the good will of Ambassador Luis Pablo María Beltramino and expressed her belief that the programs and plans proposed by the Ambassador could be well implemented. The Director affirmed that the National Library of Viet Nam always would like to build cooperative relations with libraries around the world in such fields as material exchange, organization of professional seminars and conferences, and training professional skills for librarians. For the proposal to collaborate in organizing cultural events, she stated that this is an opportunity for the Vietnamese public to learn more about the country, people, culture, and customs of Argentina, helping to strengthen the traditional friendship and mutual understanding between the two peoples. These activities are even more meaningful when they are held on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations betweenViet Nam and Argentina. The two sides agreed to continue to discuss it in more detail, make a specific plan, and well prepare the content, meeting the procedures of both sides to have the events implemented at the scheduled time.

At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Luis Pablo María Beltramino visited the library campus and the reader service space of the National Library of Viet Nam.
