On the morning of January 12, 2016, National Library of Viet Nam (NLV) held the 2015 Conference for Officials and Employees to summarize 2015’s working activities and plan the orientations and tasks for the year of 2016.
Attending the Conference, from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) there were Mr. Huynh Vinh Ai – Deputy Minister, Mr. Nguyen Huu Gioi – President of Labor Union, Mrs. Vu Duong Thuy Nga – Director of Library Department, Mr. Trinh Ngoc Canh – Deputy Head of the Party Organization Committee, Mr. Quan Van Hai – Office Manager of Youth Union, and leadership representatives from Division 5, Department of Information- communication security (A87), Ministry of Public Security.
In 2015, under the attention and guidance from the MCST, with the cooperation and efforts between the related Ministries, Departments and Divisions, the NLV’s Management Board, officials and employees have striven to accomplish effectively every assigned tasks following the scheduled plans, demonstrated by the outstanding achievements as follow:
- Accomplished excellently, timely and oriented the task of propaganda and serving the regular and irregular works through the successful organizing of displayed exhibitions, introducing materials, cultural exchanges and celebrating particular events of the country; Taking the initiative in improving ability to do effectively the searching, collecting, preserving and expanding the written cultural heritage to serve the community. Gradually complete the Doctoral Thesis Collection of Vietnamese people and foreigners in Viet Nam.
- Scientific study task focusses on investing and implementing with 02 projects on developing Vietnamese Standard, 01 scientific study at ministerial level, 02 scientific studies at grassroots level. .. The professional conferences which have scientific background and have applied effectively in library activities were held; Successfully organized the 2015 Book Festival themed “Books – cultural interference” including higher education and social significance activities.
- The more bilateral international cooperation relations were established, effective exploitation of oversea programs and projects about profession skills, staff training, book donation, coordination with Embassies and International Organizations in Ha Noi to organize successfully the cultural events, meetings with authors and their works, these activities are contributing positively to the process of library modernization and comprehensive integration in the region and the world.
- Actively support to socialize library activities. Continuously call on institutions, organizations, individuals in the country and internationally to donate books, materials for people in the remote areas where access information is difficult.
- Strengthen the management and leadership. The recruitment examination held successfully in 2014. General Meetings of Party Cell, Party Committee at NLV were happening successfully, increase the political activities. Express the caring and support the Trade Union, Youth Union, Veteran club promote their creativity, initiative to organize many practical activities in order to contribute to the overall achievements of the institution.
Besides, the Conference approved the orientations and tasks for the year of 2016, focusing on the key issues:
Promote education, increase awareness, idea, ethics, lifestyle, sense of responsibility of the officials and employees; develop the tradition, maintain the internal unity, unify the perception and action in the entire institution. Follow the proposed emulation, complete successfully the professional tasks, reach and exceed targets by 20-30%; organize successfully the 2016’s Book Festival; Purchase the copyright for RDA’s translation, printing and publishing; develop the digital resources and information collections; Continue gather, print, publish the bibliography of Vietnamese Doctoral Thesis; Collaborate with supplier to modify and upgrade ILIB; Search the utility, feasible software to support library activities; Organize the Closing Conference of 10 years applying Dewey Decimal Classification – DDC (2006-2016) in the country; Follow up the Project of developing Vietnamese National Standard “Library activities - Terms and definitions of Library Products and Services” will be announced in December, 2016; Implement the Project of developing Vietnamese Standard on information and documentation – interlibrary loan transaction and a research at grassroots level “Improving the development policy of NLV’s information resources”; Do the 2nd phase of scheme “NLV’s Renovation”; Continue the Asia Foundation’s Donation Project of receiving and distributing English books to libraries in Viet Nam…
Speak at the Conference, Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai expressed high appreciate and praised the achievements gained by NLV in 2015 and stressed: In 2016, NLV should strengthen coordination in developing the reading culture as the decision of the Prime Minister; Expand many activities to celebrate the great events of the country, organize events relating to other countries, international organizations on the basis of compliance with the existing legal provisions; Well perform in professional responsibilities and user services and internal jobs on the basis of promoting the role and tasks of the social - political organizations in the institution; Develop actively the good relationships with locals, increase professional guidance, scientific studies; Maintain and develop international cooperation in the information – library area.
The Conference elected the People’s Inspectorate Board period 2016-2017 includes 03 members.
On the same day, the Party Cell conducted to summarize the 2015’s working scheme. In the past year, NLV’s Party Cell has promote continuously education and organize activities on special subjects to implement the campaign “Study and work following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh”, partly support the Party members, officials and employees have new changes in awareness, believe in the Party’s determination of the campaign’s success; organize successfully the Conference of 07 cells and the Conference of NLV’s Party cell period 2015-2020…
