2nd Meeting of CONSAL XVII Executive Board in Yangon, Myanmar

From 8th – 10thMay, 2017, the 2nd Meeting of Congress of Southeast Asian Librarians (CONSAL) XVII has taken place in Yangon (Myanmar) with the participation of more than 23delegates from9 country members: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia,Myanmar,Philippines, Singapore, Thailandand Viet Nam. Vietnamese delegation attending the 2nd Meeting includes 02delegates from the National Library of Viet Nam.

This is the 2nd Meeting of CONSAL Executive Board XVII, following the 1st Meeting which was taken place in May, 2016. Besides annual activities likethe adoption of the 1st Meeting minutes, reports on operational updates from country members, reports on progress of regional joint programs… At this meeting, the host country Myanmar reported the preparation work, as well as asked the members of the Executive Board about the content of 2018 CONSAL XVII General Assembly. Most of the time, Board members discussed the Assembly’s program, the sub-topics for the presentation, the criteria for selecting and awarding CONSAL typical librarians, the attendance fee, the preceding meetings of Assembly… The CONSAL XVII General Assembly is scheduled to take place in the capital Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from May 2nd – 5th, 2018 under the theme “New Generation Libraries: Collaborate and Connect”.

The 2nd Meeting of CONSAL Executive Board XVII has been successfully hosted by the host country Myanmar, is an important premise for 2018 General Assembly.
